In 2010, we had 8 nations who battled it out. The UK's Whittaker brothers took on Canada's Millar family and were thought to be the two prime competitors. Who would have guessed that it would be 22 year old Brianne Goutal of New York that took the $100,000 FEI Championship? Not even Goutal herself expected it!

Where Dressage is judged based on artistic presentation as well as athleticism, show jumping is purely based on speed and accuracy. The horse and rider are tested over a course of obstacles including elements of height and width. Intended to demonstrate energy, skill, accuracy and obedience of the horse, as well as the rider’s horsemanship. Riders incur penalties for exceeding the time allowed, or for knocking down or refusing to jump an obstacle. The winner finishes with the lowest score – zero is ideal. Equestrian sports, show jumping included, are the only Olympic sports where men and women compete on equal footing.
The Royal offers Championship Show Jumping at its best – from the National Talent Squad Finals where you will see future Olympians, to our International Division, featuring a large number of Olympians from North America and across Europe. National show jumping starts opening weekend with rounds one and two of the Canadian Show Jumping Championships, presented by Greenhawk, Friday and Saturday evenings. International show jumping starts Tuesday in the afternoon and continues through Saturday.
