Special Features

The Toronto Police have had a full time unit since 1886. Since then, they have been riding horses and providing a visible presence of protection and community that continues today. The Royal has a special shared history with the mounted police, having sent eighteen of its best horses overseas for service with the 9th Canadian field Artillery, the Toronto Battery in 1914. The Royal welcomed police chief Bill Blair to open the 125th anniversary of the mounted police in Ricoh Coliseum at 1pm, Sunday November 13th, 2011.

Canine Equine Relay
Who is really man’s best friend? Horses are good workers but they won’t bring you your slippers. Hans could count, but Fido’s very name means “trust” in latin. Perhaps, this time you can put the rivalry aside and just accept that horses and dogs can work together! Canine Equine Relay! Stay tuned for 2012!

Belgian Six Horse Hitch
You think traffic is crazy in the city, wait until you see Six Horse Hitch! Four wagons and twenty-four horses weave figure eights and deftly maneuver through our ring.
