TSC Road to the Royal Chef Challenge

The Royal was back on the road for the second time this summer and fall with The TSC Stores Road to The Royal Chef Challenge, supported by Egg Farmers of Ontario, rekindling their historic connection with regional fairs across Ontario.  Six fairs from across Ontario  served as venues to qualify a local restaurant chef to participate in one of two semi-final rounds to be held at The Royal on November 7th & 8th. The winning chef from each round will move onto the Grand Finale on Saturday, November 15th, in which they will face off against each other and the winning chef from the Toronto Chef Challenge.    

Joining The Royal on the road is chef Ted Reader, the "Godfather of the Grill". Chef Ted claims his quest in life to be to create "real food for real people" and  has a passion for helping novice chefs. Together, we traveled to Peterborough, Barrie, Paris, Collingwood, Markham and Simcoe to find talented chefs who love cooking with local food. In a condensed version of the original event, the Chefs created 2 dishes in two 30 minute rounds using a “secret ingredient”—locally grown or produced food products from the local region for the entree and eggs for the Egg Farmers of Ontario for the dessert. Be sure to come out and cheer your local champions on in the 2014 Road to The Royal Semi-Finals, November 7th and 8th on the Food and Lifestlye Stage.

Semi-Final Participants: Saturday, November 8th featuring winners from The Great Northern Exhibition, Markham Fair & Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show.
