Meet the 2026 Royal Ambassadors: Sugar & Spice

Meet Sugar and Spice, the identical twin Angora goats bringing double the fun as the 2026 Royal Ambassador duo. Born on July 3, 2024, at Becky Visser’s farm in Bowmanville, Ontario, these curly-coated sisters have quickly become unforgettable representatives of one of agriculture’s most unique fibre-producing breeds.

Becky first introduced Angora goats to the farm in 2023, expanding beyond the family’s sheep flock to focus on fibre animals and the art of natural yarn production. Today, the herd helps showcase the important connection between Canadian agriculture, fibre arts, and livestock education.

Angora goats are best known for producing mohair, a luxurious natural fibre prized around the world for its softness, durability, and beautiful sheen. Lightweight yet insulating, mohair is used in everything from clothing and blankets to fine yarns and textiles. The goats are sheared twice a year, and their fibre is often blended with sheep’s wool to create exceptionally soft and durable yarns.

Sugar and Spice first stole hearts during their visit to Toronto at the 2025 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, where the identical twins competed in the Youth Goat Show while also helping introduce thousands of visitors to the Angora goat breed. Their unmistakable curls, matching personalities, and ability to charm just about everyone who passed their pen quickly caught the attention of Royal staff and guests alike — sparking excitement around the idea that these Bowmanville-born sisters might one day become Royal Ambassadors.

Now, that excitement is doubling as Sugar and Spice prepare to return to the city this November as the 2026 Royal Ambassador duo, bringing twice the curls, twice the personality, and double the excitement to Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

BECOME THE NEXT AMBASSADOR

To be named the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Animal Ambassador is to step into a role of distinction, tradition, and national pride.

Each year, one exceptional animal is selected to represent the very heart of Canadian agriculture and the enduring bond between humans and animals. This Ambassador becomes the living symbol of the Royal, carrying forward a legacy shaped by some of the most beloved and memorable figures in recent years including Turbo, Duke, Winston, Kay, and Rosie.

More than a title, the role is an honour bestowed upon an animal whose personality, presence, and story resonate far beyond the show ring. The Royal Ambassador connects audiences of all ages to the spirit of the fair, offering a warm and engaging window into the world of agriculture, animal care, and rural life.

From media appearances across the region to their celebrated presence throughout the 10 days of the fair, the Ambassador plays a vital role in welcoming guests, representing Canadian excellence, and bringing the Royal experience to life.

Steeped in tradition yet full of personality, the Royal Ambassador stands as a proud continuation of a legacy over a century in the making — a true champion of the country in the city.

Please note that all applications are thoughtfully reviewed, and finalists are carefully selected by the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Management Team through a considered evaluation process that reflects the values, standards, and legacy of the Royal.
