RULES AND REGULATIONS:

  1. This show (section 600-607) is recognized as a purebred show (unless specific classes state otherwise) and as such, registrations will be governed by Livestock Rules and Regulations # 4.
  2. All incomplete entries will be treated as late entries and subject to the late entry fee of $15.00 per entry. Exceptions will only be made for information pending. Please ensure ALL information is correctly filled in.
  3. Entry fees must be paid in all classes, except for the Best Udder Class and the Breed Cup classes. Please make your entries to the Breed Cup class in advance.
  4. This is an officially sanctioned show of the Canadian Goat Society (C.G.S.) and C.G.S. rules shall govern. Copies of C.G.S. rules may be obtained from the Canadian Goat Society. All transfer papers are to be completed before the show and submitted to the Agriculture Show Office at entry@royalfair.org. The original papers are to be brought with the exhibitor to the show.
  5. There shall be no limit on the number of entries that may be made by an Exhibitor. Pen space will be allotted according to the number of animals brought to the RAWF, and space available.
  6. Substitutions will be allowed as follows:
    1. Two substitutions within a breed per Exhibitor.
    2. Substitutions must be made within the same age class, and must be made by 2:00 PM, Friday November 3rd, 2023.
  7. No animal may be shown in more than one class except for a Championship or Special Class. All animals shown in Special Classes must have been shown in their regular classes.
  8. Animals must have been legally tattooed prior to the Fair so that no fresh ink or green ears are present.
  9. All Canadian owned goats must be registered or recorded with the Canadian Goat Society. Original registration certificate for animals must be shown when tattoos are checked and available in the ring for Championship classes. All animals must be legibly tattooed; tattoos must match the original papers. Certificates for all animals regardless of age must be shown. No papers, no show. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  10. All goats will be checked by a committee of three C.G.S. members in good standing, conducting the required health check. Any animal not passing inspection will be asked to leave the facilities. There will be no kidding or recent signs of parturition at the RAWF. C.G.S. health rules apply. Cross checks of animals at the show and animals presented will be done by the chairperson.
  11. If an exhibitor does not agree with the health check results they may have a vet check the animal at their own expense.
  12. In order to maintain a clean and professional show, exhibitors are not allowed to sleep in pens. Breeders are encouraged to put up a display and keep areas neat and tidy. It is preferred that all Dairy Exhibitors be dressed in white bottoms (pants or skirt), though black pants (non-athletic type) will be accepted as the alternative, and white shirts (with collar) when showing in the ring. No hats or caps are to be worn in the show ring. All overnight set ups must be taken down and out of sight for opening hours of the Fair.
  13. Each entry is to be handled by a single exhibitor who is to be competent as per rule #3 in the Livestock Rules & Regulations.
  14. Numbers may only be displayed in a harness on the front of the exhibitors and must identify all animals in the show ring.No ear tags that identify the exhibitor will be allowed.
  15. Holding pens will be available for exhibitors ringside. We encourage their use to help the shows move along smoothly.
  16. The base date for computing the age of the animal is November 1st, 2023.
  17. No accommodation will be provided for goats not properly entered and shown.
  18. Absolutely no dairy bucks will be allowed for entry in the Dairy Goat Show or in Royal barns.

JUNIOR SHOW CLASSES: Classes 1 - 3. Consist of Does less than two (2) years of age that are not in milk and have never freshened.

SENIOR SHOW CLASSES: Classes 6 - 10. Consist of Does that are in milk.

Premier Exhibitor

This banner will be awarded in each section. Awarded to the individual, partnership, or institution winning the largest number of points. A maximum of five (5) head exhibited by an exhibitor will be used in calculation of Premier Exhibitor. In case of a tie the following procedure will be used:

  • the exhibitor with the most first place animals in the senior classes only
  • the exhibitor with the most second place animals in the senior classes only

Junior Points: 1st - 5, 2nd - 4, 3rd - 3, 4th - 2, 5th - 1

Senior Points: 1st - 10, 2nd - 8, 3rd - 6, 4th - 4, 5th - 2

Premier Breeder

Keith Van Camp Memorial Award

A very special award will be presented by the family in memory of the late Keith Can Camp.Keith was a Saanen breeder and a mentor to many people. The award will be presented as an "Honorable Menrion" to the doe at the show that stands out for conformation and dairy strength. The judge will be watching for that special animal during the show. The award will be presented at the conclusion of the Dairy Goat Show.

A $25 cash prize will be awarded to each breed Grand Champion, donated by Andrew Hansford and Family.


Premier Herdsman


Special Prizes will be awarded to the herdsman or caretakers in charge of livestock exhibits. A committee appointed by the management will make inspections during the show to determine those who, in their judgement,make the best record for the period of the show, taking into consideration the following points:
